Maintenance of your spa

A spa hardly requires any maintenance. If you pay the necessary attention to the points below, you will be able to enjoy your spa for many years to come.

Clean and change the spa water regularly.
Clean the filter cartridge at least once a week, using spray clean with the garden hose. And once a month in a bucket or container with water, together with 2 cleaning tablets, soak for 1 hour and then rinse well.
Take a shower (do not use soap) before entering your spa and clean swimwear without detergent. This prevents detergents and soap residues from ending up in the water of your spa.
Do not leave the spa in the sun without water or a cover. Direct exposure to sunlight can damage the tub.
Close the spa when not in use (empty or filled). Provide protection in rain and snow.
Do not tilt the spa. This will damage the structure.
Do not open the control box in the equipment compartment. After all, you do not have to maintain the control box.
Cleaning the tub

To clean the inside of the spa, it is best to use a soft cloth or sponge and, if necessary, a gentle maintenance product. Do not use any abrasive or corrosive cleaning agents. The best time to clean the bath is during periodic changes of the water.

Take advantage of this opportunity and thoroughly clean the filter housing and the inner walls of the bath with a garden hose while the bath is emptying. The job is done in no time with the help of a soft brush on a long handle.

Clean filter

The filter cartridge can become clogged by limescale, which can result in poorer water circulation. it is therefore advisable to clean the filter cartridge every week. Remove the cartridge from the filter sleeves, remove any remaining dirt and let the filter soak for an hour in a container or bucket with 1 to 2 spoons of granules. Then place the cartridge back in the filter housing and close the lid. Remember that the filter cartridge must be replaced every 6 to 8 months, unless it is blocked or broken (in which case you should replace the filter with a new cartridge sooner).

During winter

Most spas are designed so that the water is continuously kept at approximately 38 degrees. For this reason, the spa is not seasonal and can be used all year round. This also applies in the cold(er) autumn and winter months. In fact, research has shown that the therapeutic effects of a spa are greatest when the outside temperatures are significantly lower than the water temperature.

If you use your spa in the winter, you should take the following advice into account:

When the temperature sensors within the heater sense a drop to 6.7 degrees (approximately 44 F) the pump automatically kicks in to provide freeze protection. The pump will continue to operate for up to 4 minutes after the spa’s sensors detect a temperature increase of 7.2 degrees or higher. It is recommended that you also provide your bath with a tarpaulin / protective cover as an extra precaution against partial freezing of some components and also to maximize the energy efficiency of the spa. If the lid seals are frozen, do not try to scrape off the ice but spray them with some warm water.

Your spa in winter

Please note: Bosma jacuzzi advises you to keep your spa bubble bath active during the winter months. This is to prevent possible freezing of pumps and pipework. If you have any questions about this, you can contact us at any time without obligation. Bosma jacuzzi is not liable for any frost damage if the customer chooses not to use the spa during the winter months.
