How much chlorine should be in a jacuzzi?

Do you have a jacuzzi and are you wondering how much chlorine should be in the jacuzzi? For a long lifespan, proper maintenance is very important. And adding chlorine to the water is part of that.

By adding chlorine, you prevent viruses and bacteria from growing in the pool that could be harmful to your health. We are happy to tell you more about chlorine in the jacuzzi.

The importance of chlorine in the jacuzzi

We have already mentioned that chlorine in the jacuzzi is very important. But what exactly does that mean? When you relax in the jacuzzi or leave the jacuzzi open, viruses and bacteria have the opportunity to grow in the water. Unfortunately, these viruses and bacteria can have an adverse effect on health.

When you add chlorine to the water in the spa or jacuzzi, the unwanted appearances of the jacuzzi are killed and the water balance is optimal. This way the water remains of high quality and you will not experience any health problems due to contaminated water. In addition, clean water has a positive effect on the lifespan of your jacuzzi.

Water quality

The quality of the water depends on two values, namely the pH value and the chlorine value. When the pH value of the jacuzzi is 7.6, it is optimal. Does the pH value fluctuate between 7.2 and 7.8? Then you don’t have to change anything.

If the pH value is too low, add pH plus to the water. On the other hand, when your pH value is too high, add the pH minus agent to the water.

The chlorine value is also very important for the quality of the water. For this reason you should perform a chlorine shock at least once a week. Do you use the jacuzzi more than 3 times a week? Then we recommend adding an extra dose halfway through the week. When the chlorine value fluctuates between 1.5 and 2 ppm, the value is good and you can bathe responsibly.

Amount of chlorine in the jacuzzi

How much chlorine should be in the jacuzzi when the chlorine value is not up to standard depends entirely on the value, but also on the amount of water in the jacuzzi. Before you get started, always read the safety instructions and dosage instructions, which you will find on the back of the packaging. For example, 100g of stabilizer from the Melpool ICA Chlorine Stabilizer – granulate per 10 m3 increases the concentration by 10 ppm.

Always avoid concentrations higher than 100 ppm. For more information, please contact us, or view the maintenance products such as Aqua Finesse in the webshop.
