You have finally bought your own jacuzzi and placed it where you want it. Then all that remains is to connect the jacuzzi. As you know, water and electricity do not go well together. That is why it is extra important for your safety that you are aware of the correct connection of a jacuzzi. You can choose to install the jacuzzi yourself or outsource it. If you choose to do it yourself, you will receive the correct information and a connection diagram.
A separate power group
A jacuzzi sometimes requires a lot of power consumption. Especially when all functions are turned on at the same time. Therefore, for your safety and to prevent power outages, it is important that the jacuzzi is connected to a separate group with fuses of 16, 20 and 25 amps. The power requirements differ per spa, but in all cases a separate power group must be installed. Make sure that the power cable never exits under the spa and always runs directly from the meter cupboard to the location of the jacuzzi (+ 5 meters extra to feed the cable in through the side). The groups must also be connected to 1 earth leakage.
Install electricity yourself
It may sound obvious, but you must use splash-proof junction boxes, sockets and switches to install the electricity. You need a YmVk or YmVk-as cable for outdoor use. The YmVk cable is for above ground and the YmVk axis (the extension ‘-axis’ stands for shielding) is for underground. To run the cable through the facade, drill a hole of 16 millimeters. As extra protection, a PVC pipe (electrical pipe) is slid through the hole.
Test the water often enough
You can choose to install the electricity yourself or have it done by an electrician. Only carry out the installation yourself if you have the correct knowledge and materials.
